It is with deepest sorrow that we, the family, announce the passing of John Brann, which occurred Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, Dec. 6, 1931, he was a son of the late John and Sarah (Campbell) Brann.
John was a member of St. Anthony’s parish. He was an automotive mechanic for over 40 years retiring from Kenmount Ford, Sydney, in 1996. He was an avid cribbage player and sports fan. He enjoyed gardening and loved picking blueberries.
John is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jackie (nee Yates); his children, Darlene (Glenn) MacDonald, Sharon (Kevin) Byrne, John (Cheryl) and Barry (Wanda); his grandchildren, Glenn, Kirk, Amanda, Ashley, Kali, Deven and Tyler; his great-grandchildren, Austin, Kylee, Emily, Dakota and Keenan; sisters, Nonie, Dolly and Mary; brother, Robert and special family friend, Connie Corbett. He is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and close friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Louis Gerard in infancy, daughter-in-law, Tanya (Smith) Brann, brothers Mick and Naish.
Visitation will be held tomorrow (Tuesday), 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. The funeral will be held Wednesday 10 a.m in St. Anthony’s Church with Fr. Conrad Edwards officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall.
Donations in John’s memory can be offered to Palliative Care or the VON.
