
George Gardiner
George Michael 'Mick' Gardiner, 80, Lr. Sackville, N.S., passed away Aug. 18, in the QEII, Halifax.
Born in Sydney Mines, he was a son of the late George William and Sarah Ann (Gouthro) Gardiner. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Calais Branch 162, and served terms as Poppy Chairman. He was employed by Otis Elevator for many years before moving to Newfoundland to start an elevator company (United Elevator) with his sons. Upon moving back to Lr. Sackville, he was employed by the Province of Nova Scotia as an elevator inspector.
He is survived by his wife, Jean (McCarthy); sons, Brian (Karen) and Richard (Melinda); daughter, Donna (Dan); five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorraine, Linda and Betty; brothers, Gerald and Brian.
He was predeceased by sister, Thelma and brothers, Andrew, Ebby, Bucky and Frankie.
A memorial service will be held at the Calais Branch 162 of the Royal Canadian Legion, 45 Sackville Cross Rd., Lr. Sackville, on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
