Dorothy Eileen Belyea of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully on February 16, 2010 in Extendicare, Moose Jaw, SK at the age of 93 years. Dorothy was born on the family farm in the Stonehenge district on January 1, 1917. She grew up on the farm and attended school in the area. Following her formal schooling, she took a hair dressing course, along with her sister “Pinkyâ€, in Regina. She then moved to Herbert, SK to work. It was there that she met Russell Belyea, and they were married in April of 1946. They later moved to Chaplin, SK and it was there that they raised their family. Besides being a homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed her flowers, gardening and had a passion for knitting. Dorothy made many afghans and scarfs that were given to family and friends. Dorothy moved to Moose Jaw following the passing of her husband Russell in January, 2003. Later, due to failing health, Dorothy moved into Extendicare where she remained until her passing. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents Charles and Nora Seal; her husband Russell; brother Charles (Esther); two sisters Emma (Ernest) Brown and Opal (Carl) Schuwelier as well as her brother-in-law Harry Friesen. Dorothy is survived by her two children, daughter Opal (Wayne) Hendrickson and son Russell (Brenda) Belyea; her sister Winnifred “Pinky†Friesen; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral Service was held Saturday February 20, 2010 at 3:00 pm in Ross Funeral Chapel, with Neil Gilbert officiating. Tribute was given by son, Russell. Pallbearers were Warner Belyea, David Belyea, Ben Friesen, Garry Karst, Bill Seal, and Ken Schuweiler. Gertie Matity attended the register and Vick Matity was the usher. Donations in Memory of Dorothy were received by the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Interment followed in Mount Hope Cemetery, Assiniboia, SK. Arrangements are entrusted to
