W. Grant Sansom

SAMSOM, W. GRANT - With sadness the family wishes to announce the passing of Grant Sansom of Fredericton, N. B. on Sunday, August 24th, 2014 at Thomas Hall - Shannex Parkland. Born April 2, 1926, in Fredericton, he was the older son of the late Freeman and Beulah (Grant) Sansom. Grant is survived by his wife and soul mate, Stella (Ellick) Sansom, son David (Brenda) Sansom, granddaughters Nicole (Matt) Dawson and Megan (Karl) St-Pierre, both of Ottawa. He also leaves four beautiful great-grandchildren who he loved dearly; Will Dawson, Ruby Dawson, Simon St-Pierre and Zoe St-Pierre, all of Ottawa. He was predeceased by his younger son, Richard (Judy Draper) of Prince George, B. C. and his only brother James (Alice) Sansom. Grant was a lifelong resident of Fredericton and especially enjoyed his years spent in Castleton Court. He embraced life and enjoyed all those he met on his journey through it. Grant served his country, engaged himself with his community and helped others, simply because it was the right thing to do. His love of family and friends remained strong until the end. He was the founder and President of Sansom Equipment Limited. He watched his baby grow from an office in his home to become a major Atlantic Canadian equipment distributorship, with offices in Fredericton, Truro and St. John's. It seems only fitting that he would live to see his firm celebrate its fiftieth anniversary in 2014. For all his successes over the years, he would be quick to thank all of his faithful employees for their love, loyalty and dedication. He was very much a team player. Grant spent his final two and one-half years at Thomas Hall on the Shannex Parkland campus in Fredericton. Words cannot describe the love, care and devotion their staff showed Grant on a daily basis. He loved you all and we, the family, will be eternally grateful for making him feel at home.
The family cordially invite you to a visitation at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 27th, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at the Brunswick Street Baptist Church on Thursday, August 28th at 2:00 pm with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, Hospice Fredericton or to a charity of the donor's choice.
