MacISAAC, John Wayne “J.D.” – 63, born in Pictou on July 17, 1951, passed away in the Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow on August 23, 2014, after a brief but very brave battle with cancer. He was a son of the late John Dan and Kathleen (LeBlanc) MacIsaac. Wayne is survived by his children, Natalie, Kentville; Jessica, Pictou; Archie, Pictou, and their mother, Anne Gratton; siblings, Donna (Ross) MacKenzie, Pictou; Sharon (Ron) Riley, Bible Hill; Deborah (Terry) Hosking, Riverton; Eric (Kathy MacLean), Pictou; and Lloyd LeBlanc, Port Elgin, ON; granddaughter, Ava Brown; aunt, Alexina “Jemima” (Frank) MacKay and uncle, Colin (Juliette) MacIsaac, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He enjoyed canoeing, kayaking, fishing, woodworking, and loved spending time with his granddaughter and family and friends. He also loved visits to The Glen in Cape Breton, and tinkering at his woodlot in Caribou River.
Wayne was an active member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 409 until the time of his brief illness. We would like to thank the wonderful doctors and staff at the Brain Repair Centre of the Halifax Infirmary, the Cancer Centre at the Dickson Building of the Victoria General, and Palliative Care staff of the Aberdeen Hospital. Visitation will be 6-9 PM Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday from the Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, Pictou, with Father Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in the Seaview Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations can be made in Wayne’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or any charity.
