It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Dan Joseph Dixon on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his sister, Irene and long time friend, Parker, at his side.
Born in Neil's Harbour, he was the son of the late James Robert and Florence Elizabeth (Timmons) Dixon.
He was employed with Pole Star. He had a passion for horses and enjoyed watching the races at the race track. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens and Toronto Blue Jays fan. He will be missed by his two cats Proline and Muffin.
Dan Joseph is survived by his daughter, Linda Robinson; two precious grandchildren, Jesse and Jordon. He is also survived by his siblings, Patsy, Anne (Jimmy), Irene, Margaret, Valerie, and John, many nieces and nephews, especially Bernice, her son Spencer who thought dearly of him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Leo Dixon.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will take place 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
