BANKS, MINNIE - The passing of Minnie Eliza Harding (Lean) Banks occurred on August 30, 2014 under the tender care of staff on Tower 2, York Care Center. Minnie was born in Lower Saint Mary’s, NB on March 21, 1916 to Henry and Mary (Stewart) Harding. Baptist by faith, Minnie was an active member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. She was also a founding member of Carleton-York IODE, holding many offices. In her lifetime, Minnie was a CGIT leader and member of the Rebeccah Lodge and PC women. Minnie enjoyed her life fully. Her passions included the cottage, travel, flower gardening, having bible study in her home with friends, baking, and shopping trips with the girls. Minnie lovingly supported and appreciated her family. She is affectionately remembered by her daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Rogers (Ted) and son, John Lean (Shirley), as well as by her grandchildren, Mary Rogers (Blaine), Matthew Rogers (Rama), Mark Lean (Heather), Andrew Rogers (Katherine), Kathryn Rogers (Mike), Heather Campagna (Scott) and Amy MacArthur (Jeff). Minnie also had many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. As well, she is survived by her youngest brother Stewart Harding (Wanda) and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Minnie was predeceased by her first husband Alfred E. Lean, and second husband, Fred V. Banks; her brothers, Leonard, Henry, Ralph, Kenneth, Fred, and George; sisters, Marion, Edna, and Doris, along with all of their spouses.
The funeral will be held at Grace Memorial Baptist Church on Monday, September 1st at 2pm with a reception to follow at the church. Rev. Marilyn McCormick will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish to make donations in Minnie’s memory, please consider the York Care Center or Grace Memorial Baptist Church.
