Mary J. 'Jenny' MacNeil, 80, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014.
Mrs. MacNeil was born July 17, 1934 in North Sydney to Augustus and Elizabeth (Tobin) O’Quinn.
She was trained as an R.N. before she married Gerald MacNeil of Glace Bay. They moved to the United States in 1962 to Millis, Mass. and in 1971 they made their home in York Harbor, Maine for 38 years. She was a full time homemaker. She was very active in her church and community.
She was proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Gerald and a brother, Raymond O’Quinn.
She will be remembered by her bothers, John O’Quinn of London, Ont., Rudy O’Quinn of North Sydney, Robert O’Quinn of Baddeck and Terrance O’Quinn of North Sydney; her sisters, Joan Curtis of North Sydney and Emily Jardine of London, Ont.
She will also be remembered by her children, Malcolm and his wife Charlene of Louisburg, North Carolina and Denise and her husband David Poboisk of Bend, Oregon; grandchildren, Melessa (MacNeil) Amaya and her husband Robert, Malcolm MacNeil, Heather (Furrow) Hopkins and her husband, Dustin, Amy Furrow and Dax, Jade and Drake Poboisk and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Lucas Amaya, Adin Lampros, Elias Pollavina and Garrett Hopkins.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine. A graveside placing of the ashes will follow.
