August 16 1930 - September 11, 2014 Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, September 11th, 2014, Leroy Newhook of Old Shop, aged 84 years. Predeceased by parents; Albert and Elsie Newhook, son in-law, Scott Halfyard, sister, Rita Mercer and brother in-law, George Mercer. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories to celebrate his life with thanksgiving are, his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Kathleen, four children; Hilda Halfyard (Scott deceased), David (Linda), Gary (Sandra), Donna Jackson (Rene), six grandchildren; April (Bradley), Renee (Michael), Taylor, Kylee, Emily, and Brent, three great grandchildren; Ashton, Aiden and Benjamin. He is also lovingly remembered by brothers; Albert (Greta), Raymond (Maxine), and Bruce (Laura), sisters; Emily Pike (Cyril), Isabel Pretty (Alfred), Margaret Mercer (George deceased), brother in-law, Melvin Mercer, as well as a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo with visitation on Friday, September 12th 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm, and Saturday, September 13th, 12:00 pm - 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blaketown on Sunday, September 14th at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Holy Spirit Anglican Cemetery, Old Shop. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers donations in Leroy's memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to help cure the disease that has touched a very special person in his life, his great grandson, Benjamin.
