COLLIN ROY DIXON
We say a loving farewell to a really amazing guy, Collin Roy Dixon. Collin passed away peacefully at Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, on Wednesday evening, September 10th, 2014 with his father by his side. Collin was a wonderful son, uncle and brother. He is lovingly remembered by his parents Dennis and Linda, sister Jennifer and brother Jason (Nictima) and their children, Talyn and Sayla and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Collin was predeceased by his grandparents, Ernie and Edith Dixon and Frank and Rose Hogue and step-grandparent Roy Dowson, and also by his Uncle Bill Dixon.
Collin was born at Kyle Union Hospital, May 25, 1970. Collin spent his early years in Swift Current and Elrose where he began school. He graduated from Elrose Composite School and then went to Community College in Swift Current. His disability worsened, so he enrolled in a computer programming course in Regina where he lived for three years. With hesitation he moved back to Swift Current and lived at the Palliser Regional Care Centre until his passing.
Collin was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He always had time for a visit with his many friends and especially his hockey family. For many years Collin was the Stick Boy for the West Central Wheat Kings travelling many miles and many hours with Burns McDonald and Raymond Marchand and the team. This was a very special part of his life that he always spoke of with fondness. He never missed a Bronco game, or a hamburger at the game, while he lived in Swift Current. This was due to the kindness shown by the dedicated friends he had there. Also a special mention of the men that would come and cook a steak for Collin, one of his favourite meals. You all made his life much more special just by being in it. He loved Star Wars movies, hockey and wrestling. In his high school years, Collin was an avid swimmer going many places to compete. He also played baseball and volleyball. He enjoyed camping and fishing and just being outdoors. Collin always claimed the nurses on the third floor of the Palliser Care Home were "his" nurses. The special treatment and care he received there was so commendable, everyone there deserves a medal!
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Collin's honour may be made to Palliser Regional Care Centre, 440 Central Ave. S., Swift Current, S9H 3G6 or to the Elrose Uniplex, Elrose , S0L 0Z0. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 19th at the Elrose Memorial Hall with interment at the Elrose Cemetery.
