HARRY GEORGE BROWN

HARRY GEORGE BROWN

Born: July 20th, 1936

Passed on: September 13th, 2014

Passed away suddenly at home Saturday, September 13, 2014. Survived by his loving wife Phyllis of 57 years and his five children: Cathy, Donald (Jackie), Glen, Heather and Shelly, his nine grandchildren: Troy (Nicole), Shannon, James, Steven, Isiah, Sarah (Colin), Doug, Casey and Breanna. Harry has three great grandchildren: Georgia, Whitney and Hunter. He is also survived by seven sisters: Margaret, Maxine, Bertha, Donna, Carolyn, Dorothy and Mary, two brothers Billy and Joe and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents James and Irene, sister Delores and brother Sonny.
Harry was born in Garden Bay and lived as a child in Silver Sands. He attended the Silver Sands school. When he and Phyllis were married they moved to Garden Bay and have lived there ever since!
As a young man, Harry logged and at the age of 20 began his career as a commercial fisherman. This brought him up to Prince Rupert and beyond and up and down the coastal and local waters many times on his beloved Hazel Mae. There isn’t a dock or sea port along the way where someone doesn’t know Harry and has a story to tell!
Harry was an avid hunter and looked forward to each and every hunting trip with “his boys!” He was a kind, caring man who loved his family and friends and helped so many people along the way! He was forever giving fish and prawns to anyone who walked by the dock as he was tying up and to his neighbours and friends as well. He will be sadly and deeply missed by his loving family and everyone whose lives Harry touched!
Garden Bay will not be the same without him.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Madeira Park Legion followed by a gathering at 5:00 p.m. at the Sundowner Inn in Garden Bay (the former St. Mary’s Hospital) where Harry was born.
