It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear son, husband, father, brother, grandson and friend, Cory Johnston, on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at the CB Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, Cory is the son of Glenn and Theresa (Connolly) Johnston of North Sydney.
Cory worked several jobs over the years including cooking at the Blue Mist Tavern, Servicom in Sydney River, Rendell’s Farm in Bras d’Or and was a member of Local 92 Labourer’s Union in Ft. McMurray. Cory enjoyed Four-wheeling, going for drives and in his younger years he was involved in Minor baseball as a pitcher.
Besides his parents, Cory is survived by the love of his life, his companion of more than 18 years, Suzanne Carey; his three children, Evan, Maria and Abigail; his brothers, Colton and Zachary; his maternal grandmother, Hilda Walsh; paternal grandmother, Mary Johnston as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Fred Connolly, his paternal grandfather, Gordon Johnston and his aunt, Belinda.
In accordance with Cory’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family funeral will take place at a later date, with burial in Lakeside Cemetery.
