
Gilbert "Gil" Perry
PERRY, GILBERT “GIL” JOSEPH - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gilbert Perry, beloved husband of Sherrill (Guptill) Perry of Saint John, announces his passing which occurred peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a heroic battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on October 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Rita (Gallant) Perry and the late Harry Jones. Prior to his retirement, Gil was employed with Dominion Refuse. After retirement, Gil took up the hobby of making cedar kindling with his son Scott. He was a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan and in his younger years had enjoyed coaching both hockey and baseball. Gil also liked to fish but he especially treasured the times spent with those he loved. Gil will always be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. In addition to his wife, Gil is survived by his children, Scott Perry (Janet) of Saint John and Tanya Cyr (John) of Quispamsis; siblings, Russell Perry (Lorraine) of the Kingston Peninsula, Raymond Perry (Mary Lou) of Saint John and Nancy Gillean (Ron) of Calgary; precious grandchildren, Grace Perry and Allison and Julia Cyr; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold and sister-in-law, Sharon.
Resting at Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, West Saint John, (634-7425) with visiting on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Bay View Chapel on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
