James "Wilfred" Turner

TURNER, JAMES “WILFRED” – The death of Wilfred Turner of Saint John, cherished husband of the late Helen Doreen Turner (Kingston), occurred on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Bobby’s Hospice. Born on October 25, 1925 in Centreville, NB he was a son of the late Rev. Benjamin and Florence (Cosman) Turner. Wilfred served with the Royal Canadian Signals during World War II. He was a faithful and longtime member of Portland United Church. Wilfred was also a member of the Masonic Lodge for 67 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a telegraph operator and train dispatcher for 43 years. Wilfred is survived by his children, Bette Turner and John Turner (Kathy) both of Saint John; brother, Murray Turner of Moncton; sister, Eddie Rollins of Houston, TX; grandsons, Benjamin, Adam and Aaron Turner; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and special friend Jean Poirier. He was predeceased by brothers, Harold, Roy and Ralph.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Wednesday, September 24 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Masonic Tribute will be held Wednesday at 6:45 PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Bobby’s Hospice. www.BrenansFH.com
