It is with deepest sorrow that the family of Irene King announce the passing of our beloved mother, on Monday October 6, 2014 at the age of 86. She leaves to mourn with many precious memories her children: Maureen (Dave) Skanes, Deborah (Derek) Mayo, Janet (Brian) Bonnell, Paula (Brian) Power, Michael (Heather) King, Peter (Anita) King, David (Brenda) King, Joan Pike, Stephen King; grandchildren Ian (Amanda), Andrew (Kelly), Mark, Kenny (Karen), Philip, Andrew (Kayla), Allison (Jaco), Kristen, Wendy, Scott, Kelly (Ed), Adam (Dany), Nikki, Liam and Seth; and great grandchildren Nathan, Zachary, Chase, Chael, Charlotte, Haley, and Hayden; brother George, sisters in law Betty Ann (John) Rahal, Agatha King, and brothers in law Howard (Sybil) Dornan and Michael (Carmel) King. She was predeceased by her husband Mark (Jan 30,2013); parents John and Gertrude Gamberg, stepmother Catherine, her sisters Joan and Gertrude and her brothers Charles and John. Family and friends were mom’s passion and delight. She always enjoyed helping others and spending time in her gardens, both at the house and at the cabin, Mom and Dad’s favorite place. Friends may visit Fillatres’s Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday October 8, from the hours of 7-9 PM and Thursday October 9, from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 10 at 2:00 PM at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley crematorium, with a private interment to take place at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
