Ralph passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the age of 93 years. Ralph was born and grew up on the family farm approximately 20 miles south of Tompkins in the Bone Creek District, South West Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his wife Emma (Brevig) in 2004; parents Steven and Elizabeth; twin sister Hattie in infancy; and his siblings Lillian Stevenson, Bertha Fisher, Clytie Frederick, Cecil Huntley, Dorothy Frederick, Madeline Peters, Alice Wieterman, Betty Harris and Ben Huntley. Ralph and Emma are survived by their four children Linda (Craig) Torgunrud, Dennis (Bente) Huntley, Vivian Usselman and Roger (Donna) Huntley; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren: Peter (Caroline) and Evan Armstrong, Suzanne (Douglas) Brielle and Halle Holmberg, Jed Huntley, Daniel Usselman, Gunnar (Janine) Chelsea and Cody Huntley, Theresa (Terrence) Tayen and Kesa Thorsen; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. Ralph often said, “I’ve had a good one.” When he was young, Ralph enjoyed working on the farm and as a farm hand. He served in the army from June, 1941 to May 1947, training in Canada and England, and in the provost corps in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He joined the Regina City Police force in August, 1947 and retired at the rank of Inspector in January, 1977. Ralph loved nature. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and berry picker. Ralph and Emma especially enjoyed being at their cottage at Pelican Point on Long Lake with family and friends. For the last four years Ralph lived at the Veterans’ Unit of Wascana Rehabilitation Center. Ralph and his family are grateful to current and previous staff, volunteers, visitors, residents and their families for their care, help and kindness. Thank you to “a lot of friendly people.” “God bless.” A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK after Thanksgiving on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ralph may be made to the Veterans’ Unit of Wascana Rehabilitation Centre, 2180 23rd Avenue, Regina, SK S4S 0A5, the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, 301, 2550 – 12 Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1, or a charity of your choice.
