GEORGINA L. TAYLOR
August 20, 1960 - October 5, 2014
Our beautiful Georgina Lynn Taylor was born August 20, 1960 in Newfoundland. She passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2014 in Sechelt, British Columbia. She is tremendously missed by her husband, Ed Baxter, her son Christopher Day, her siblings Valerie and Gary, her extended family in Newfoundland, and so many others: as every person she met and loved has been deeply affected by her amazing spirit and vivacious personality.
Though Georgina carried with her a strong love and passion for her home of Newfoundland, she travelled across Canada at a young age. She eventually landed in Vancouver where she studied Criminology and raised Chris as a single mother. She was a dedicated feminist, who supported and advocated for women for many years, focusing on women's legal issues during custody and access disputes. As well as many years of front-line work with women, she also wrote the book Women and Children Last: Custody Disputes and the Family "Justice" System.
After the sudden passing of her first husband Bryan, she fell in love with her long-time friend Ed Baxter. They married on July 24, 2004 and eventually moved to Sechelt. There they built a beautiful home in Sandy Hook and could often be found boating in the Inlet or socializing at the pub.
Her memorial will be held Saturday, October 11 at Sunshine Coast Botanical Gardens in Sechelt at 4pm. The family asks that that guests please wear colours rather than black. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to The Georgina Taylor Fund. For more information email georgina.taylor.fund@gmail.com
The impact of this incredible woman can't be overstated. She will be desperately missed.
