The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, October 5, 2014, of Marion Smith (nee Arsenault) of St. Eleanors. She was born in St. Nicholas, to her late parents Emile and Angeline (nee Poirier) Arsenault. Beloved wife of the late George Smith and loving mother of Frank (late Rae), Carl Smith, Diana (John) Buchanan, Linda Szekeres, Paul Smith and Jocelyn (late Kerry) Marchbank. Also deeply missed by her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Marion was predeceased by her daughters Marie (Tom) Zengel, Elizabeth (Jim) Thar, son Rudy Smith, sister Leona Arsenault and brother Tilmon Arsenault. Marion was a devoted Catholic, mother and grandmother, as well as a foster mother to ten children. She was very generous and involved with the community including being a lifetime member of the Women's Institute acting as secretary, fifteen years teaching community school, volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the manors, volunteered with Sister Mary Deighan, had global pen pals and much more. Marion was a great artist and very musically talented. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Thursday, Oct. 16, for a funeral mass at St. Paul's Church, Summerside, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Due to her love of children, memorial donations in Marion's memory to the Children's Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
