CLARKE, Russell G. (May 22, 1947 - January 2, 2009) – It is with great sadness to announce the sudden death of Russell George Clark on January 02, 2009. Father, Grandfather, Sailor who was called to Heaven’s door to steer a heavenly course in uncharted waters. Born on May 22, 1947, to parents Elsie and Percival Clarke of Grand Bank. Never giving his parents a moments peace, until he discovered his true pathway. For Russell, it was sailing the bounty blue, navigating his ships on a true path. Steering the water courses since 1963, Russell was always happiest sailing and charting the courses of his ships. Sailing for 46 years, his home was where he left his gear. Russell spent many years in Ontario, until 2001 where he moved to his birth town, Grand Bank, Newfoundland and Labrador. He will be greatly missed by everyone, all who loved him, all his buddies and his friendships that were carved out by the dangers of sailing. Predeceased by his father Percival George Clarke, his baby brother Eli Clarke, his sister Shirley (Clarke) Whalen, and his nephew Steven Mauger. Russell will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by Nancy Wilson-Clarke of Grand Bank. NL; his children Natalie Rose Clark of Grand Bank, NL; Philip, David and Sharon of the province of Ontario and Christopher of Clarenville, NL. His much beloved ten grandchildren, his extended family, friends and co workers. Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Grand Bank at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. Cremation to follow.
