John Moffit
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Sidney Moffitt. John passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 7, 2014, at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. John was born on December 22, 1955, in Hampton, South Carolina, to Sidney & Madeline Moffitt. John attended elementary school in South Carolina, until Sidney and Madeline bought a farm north of Webb, SK. John completed his high school education at Gull Lake School, where he played football for the Lions. In his free time during his high school years, John enjoyed curling, 4-H, and going to football parties. John married the love of his life, Brenda Crocker, on November 14, 1975. John & Brenda were blessed with two children, Kevin and Michelle. Kevin and Michelle were John’s pride and joy, and nothing gave him more happiness than hearing about recent events in their lives. John loved to keep everyone up to date with stories of his kids – he was always so proud of them. John’s passions were his family and the farm. The Moffitt’s worked together for over forty years to establish what is now the family farm. Everyone will always remember John as a man that genuinely loved and cared about all of his family and friends, a man that was hardworking, and a man that had unrivaled passion and devotion to all things that encompassed the family farm. John loved to make small bets with his kids, even if that meant that he had to bet against his own team. It was never about the money or winning, for John it was always about having fun with his kids. There was no better way for John to spend his free time than with his grandchildren Kason, Lincoln, and Evan. He loved every moment that he spent with them and teased them with the best intentions quite often. Many afternoons were spent with the sound of children’s laughter and John at the center of it. John would have been 59 years old in December and John & Brenda would have been married 39 years this November. John will be missed dearly by his wife Brenda; his children, Michelle (Corey) McCrea and their child, Evan: Kevin (Angela) Moffitt and their children, Kason and Lincoln; Father, Sidney; sister, Joyce Kettner; brother, Gary; Aunt Kathleen Blakely; and numerous other relatives.
