LYDIA MYRTLE SKEARD
December 3, 1924 – October 17, 2014

Passed away peacefully at Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre on Friday, October 17, Lydia Myrtle Skeard at the age of 89 years. Born at Garnish NL, Myrtle was the daughter of the late William and Mary Banfield. She was predeceased by her husband Elijah, son Wayne, grandson Paul Tobin, son in law Richard Tobin, sister Beulah Grandy. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories are her children; Mildred Tobin Port aux Basques, Allison (Dale) Skeard Isle aux Morts, Donna Skeard, Roger Skeard both of Port aux Basques. Loving grandmother of Shawn (Jeanette), Craig (Pam), Chris (Sonya), Kerry (Sher), Devon (Melita), granddaughter in law Barbara Tobin, nine great grandchildren, sisters; Minnie Banfield Garnish NL, Edna Butler (John) Ontario and a large circle of nieces, nephews and many friends. Myrtle had a wonderful love for her family and was a dedicated member of the Salvation Army in Port aux Basques for many years. She was a devoted member of the Home League and her presence will surely be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been blessed to have Myrtle as a part of their lives. Visitation took place on Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at East Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services took place on Tuesday, October 21, 2 p.m. at the Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bay officiated by Captain Shawn and Major Marilyn Furey. Interment followed at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Trans Canada Highway. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of one's choice.
