We the family regret to announce the passing of Lloyd Layes on Oct. 24, 2014, at Taigh Na Mara in the DVA Unit.
Lloyd was a veteran of the Second World War serving over seas, and also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 3.
Surviving are wife Reta Layes, sons, George, Lloyd Jr., Gerald, Marcel, stepsons, Roy, John and Paul Peach, and a stepdaughter, Nancy King.
He was predeceased by his son Gordon and stepsons, Trevor and Terry Peach.
Visitation for Lloyd will be on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. in Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. in Patten Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maple Avenue.
