Harold was born July 17, 1931 in Camrose, Alberta to Emma and John Boraas. He died peacefully on October 9, 2014. He was the youngest of four children Clarence (Beth), Eddie (Naomi) and Olga (Jack Rintoul). Harold was predeceased by Clarence and Olga. Harold loved the north and he and Melba began to make their life embracing the vitality of the north. Their first child was born in Camrose - Jane and after the move to Dawson Creek, Lynn and John were born.

His love of the north drove his career path taking on roles that took him into the wilderness of the province as an expeditor. He would beam when given the chance to fly into mountain bound camps and landing on remote dirt strips or lakes. This love of flying was a significant part of his life.

Harold continued to explore the north with Melba and their family throughout his life - travelling into the territories, northern BC but also exploring Canada, the US and various warm winter vacation spots.

Harold was a committed family man who showed great love to his children and his wife - this was expressed through his time - helping to build or repair his children's houses as well as his acceptance and loyalty. His family brought him joy to the end of his life.

He leaves to mourn his wife of almost 61 years, Melba, his children Jane (Randy), Lynn (Bob), and John and grandchildren Troy, Trent (Skye), Margaret, Eric, Elliott (Sadie) as well as two great-grandchildren.

His final year and a half were spent at the Glengarry Hospital in Victoria, BC. The staff showed him great kindness, and it was there that he passed peacefully. His family will miss him terribly but are thankful for his gentle passing.
