HUMES, SARA MARIE (McQUADE) - Sara M. Humes, 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont University Hospital, with her family at her side. Born in McQuade Settlement, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Augusta (Cameron) McQuade and recently was a resident of McNair Manor. Sara retired from the T. Eaton Company and was a member of the CWL at St. Michael’s and St. Bernard’s Roman Catholic Churches. She loved her Irish roots and was a member of the Irish Cultural Association of NB. Sara was known for her great sense of humour, a giving heart and gracious hospitality, “Would you like to have a cookie?”. Sara is survived by her daughters, Sheila of Halifax, NS, Dorothy “Dede” Dionne (Richard), of Eliot, Maine, Carol Ann Dahr (Doug) of Vaughan, NS; sons, Jim (Odette) of Moncton, Gary (Carroll) of Burlington, ON and Brian (Joan) of Hamilton, ON. She leaves behind her much loved 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Sara was predeceased by her husband, John; son, Jack; great-granddaughter, Natasha Middleton and son-in-law, Jim White. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church on Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00 am with Rev. Laurence Quin-Morris officiating. Reception in the Church Hall following the Mass. Interment Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital.
