Mary Jeannie Forgeron

Passed in: West Arichat
Passed on: January 20th, 1929

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Jeannie Forgeron, known to many as Jean, on Oct. 28, 2014, at the Oceanview Manor in Eastern Passage at the age of 85, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in West Arichat, Cape Breton, on Jan. 20, 1929, Jean was the daughter of the late Abraham and Stella Forgeron.
Jean left home at the age of 14 and spent most of her adult life living and working in Sydney, Cape Breton at St. Rita's Hospital as a housekeeper in the nurse's residence for over 40 years. Jean was well-known for her strong work ethic and tough demeanor, but she was also well loved for her softer, fun-loving, practical jokester side.
Jean is survived by her daughter Rose Anne (Lloyd) Campbell, who re-entered her life in 2004; her loving grandchildren, Susan (Pat) Dobbin, Sherri (Ken) Forgeron, Terrance (Cheryl) Campbell and Pam (Allen) Bezanson; her beautiful great-grandchildren, Ryan, Jessica, Sarah, Joshua, Carter, Matthew, Cameron and Mya. Although they were only in her life for a brief period of time, Jean loved them all immensely, which was most apparent when she was in the presence of her great-grandbabies. She didn't need to use words to show them how she felt; the love was obvious in the tender gazes and the gentle kisses she eagerly bestowed upon them.
Jean is also survived by her sisters, Priscilla Dugas, Rose Boudreau and Mildred Babin. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond, Alfred, Ernest and Vincent; sisters, Alice, Evelyn, Mathilda and Gladys. We are all so lucky to have had her in our lives.
There will be no visitation by request. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Arichat with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in West Arichat at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimers Society (NS).
The family would like to thank Dr. Claire Nowlan and all the staff at Oceanview Manor for the excellent care they provided to Jean in her last few years.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to C.H. Boudreau Funeral Home in Arichat.
