BLAKNEY, MICHAEL "MIKE" G. - It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mike Blakney, 58, at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grand Prairie, AB. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Archibald and Hulda (Leaman) Blakney. Mike worked as an Owner / Operator with Terra Nova Transport, Petitcodiac for 16 years and for the past two years as an Owner / Operator with Hollow River Transport, Elk Point, AB. Mike enjoyed 4 wheeling, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mike will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 41 years, Wendy (Clark) of Elk Point, AB; loving children, Tammy Bustin (Terry) of River Glade, Alvin Blakney (Karen) of Elk Point, Heather Kelly (Derek) of Wheaton Settlement and Holly Fawcett (Derek) of Petitcodiac; precious grandchildren, Kyle, Shelby, Brady, Kayla, Alexis, Katelin, Isaiah, Brookelyn, Taylor, Camden, Connor; cherished great-granddaughters, Aleah, Alydia, Bailey and Kasey; sister, Donna Milton (Chester Cox); brothers, Ron Blakney, Jerry Blakney (Edna). In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Alvin Blakney.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 7, 2014 at 1:30 pm, with Rev. Lloyd O’Blenis officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Five Points Cemetery.
