Vonnie Wilton age 74 years of Eastend, Saskatchewan died on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Shaunavon Hospital and Care Centre in Shaunavon, Saskatchewan.
Vonnie was born at Gull Lake, Saskatchewan on August 22, 1940. She attended Antelope, Lloyd and Gull Lake Schools. Vonnie graduated from Business College in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan and later received her Municipal Government Administration Certificate. She married Clifford Wilton on June 24, 1960 at Gull Lake. She worked at the Eastend School Unit for ten years and completed her career at the R. M. of White Valley. Vonnie’s community involvement included Eastend Community Tourism Association for eight years, Horseshoe Regional Tourism Board, Eastend Chamber of Commerce, Donor’s Choice, Ladies Curling Club and Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed gardening, snowmobiling, riding horses, ceramics, crocheting, needle point and bird watching.
Vonnie was predeceased by her husband Clifford on December 4, 2002, grandson Aaron Gilbert in infancy, father Carl Lloyd in 1999, mother Jean Lloyd in 2013 and brother Lee in 1989.
She is survived by her daughters Michelle Bauer (Bart) of Eastend, Leanne Gilbert (Robert) of Eastend and grandchildren Meagan and Lee, and Lezlie Wilton of Maple Creek, sister Lexie Cole (Barry) of Cabri, sister-in-law Diane Cole (Dale) of Cabri, and brothers-in-law Lyle Wilton (Peggy) of Sparwood, B. C. and Gary Wilton (Judy) of Cochrane, Alberta as well as by several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Vonnie’s life was held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from Eastend Memorial Hall with Funeral Celebrant Bernadette Schneider officiating. Leanne Gilbert presented the Eulogy and a Tribute was given by Gary Wilton. Interment of her cremated remains will follow at a later date.
