SHAW, DOUGLAS HAZEN - It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Douglas Hazen Shaw on November 13, 2014 at Bobby’s Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John on March 18, 1939, he was the loving husband of Shirley Shaw and son of the late Fred and Ella (Hovey) Shaw. Doug was liked by many and his pride for his family was evident. He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family, and his passion was his work. Doug is survived by his son Douglas Shaw Jr. (Lisa) of Saint John; two daughters, Cathy Shaw (Tony) of Saint John and Krista Shaw-Theriault (Dani) of Quispamsis; five grandchildren, Avery, Sydney, Shelby, Julia and Aaron. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his 10 sisters and two brothers.
Special thanks to the Neuroscience Department, Dr. Andre Leroux and Dr. Julia Wildish, the caregivers who visited Dad at home and the incredible staff at Bobby’s Hospice who made the final steps to Dad’s journey peaceful. Till we meet again Dad, Hazen, Papa….
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Following cremation, visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Douglas can be made towards the Bobby’s Hospice.
