JOHN “JACK” NATHAN RYAN - 1936 - 2014 - Jack Ryan of Riverview passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Gerald and Mabel Ryan (Duggan). Jack was very involved in the community and loved to stay busy. After having served in the Canadian Army in the Signal Corps as a young man and retiring from the CN Police with over 29 years of service, he didn’t let retirement slow him down. Jack was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, The Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Riverview Council 9270 and a member of the 4th Degree Msgr. Roy M. McDonald Knights of Columbus Assembly 618, Moncton, as well as a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch #6. Music was a passion that he followed being a member of the Sussex Avenue Fiddlers, Fiddling Friends, and the Greater Moncton Fiddler Association where many times they played in senior’s groups or wherever they were needed. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Dianne (Horton); daughters, Teresa Ryan of Ottawa, Elizabeth (Dave Gault) Ryan of Halifax; son, Michael (Andrea) of Vancouver; his seven grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Hanscomb and Paula Ryan both of Halifax; brother, Andrew (Marilyn) Ryan of Halifax; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Horton, Patricia Finlayson; brother-in-law Jack (Lori) Horton and aunt Donelda Fountain of Burlington, ON.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd., Riverview (869-2007) on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm with a Legion Service at 6:45pm and Parish Prayer and Sharing of Memories taking place at 8:30pm. A service celebrating Jack’s life will take place from Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (Fatima Dr., Riverview) on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 11:00am with Father Charles Broderick officiating.
