BABB, Joyce – It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Babb of Bell Island. Joyce was born on February 6, 1931 in Upper Island Cove to the late Walter and Ethel Coombs. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Joyce passed peacefully away on January 8, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her loving husband Eugene, grandson Bradlee, brothers Walter and Arch Coombs and sister Phoebe Byrne. Leaving to mourn her eleven children: Cynthia (Harold), Rosalind, Lorne (Arlene), Wade (Lisa), Barry (Tena), Sandra (John), Walter (Catherine), Bill (Juanita), Darrell (Rhonda), Barbara (Billy) and Kelly (Paul); her 22 grandchildren: Tina, Bob, Tracey, Eugene, Melanie, Eugene, Aimee, Stephanie, Michelle, Barry Jr., Jennifer, Andrea, Christian, Jordan, Ashlee, John, Matthew, David, Jennifer, Ryan, Kristen and Gabriella; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sister Ruby Yetman (Bill); caregiver Jos Murphy and numerous family and friends. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations can be made to the Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation in her memory. Visitation to begin January 9, 2009 at Pendergast’s Funeral Home on Bell Island from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 10, 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral to take place from the United Church on Sunday, January 11 at 2 p.m. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Bell Island.
Nanny Babb devoted her life to her family. We will always remember her gentle smile and the way she made every one of us feel so special and loved. God Bless you Mom. We are so thankful for everything you did for us. You will always live in our hearts and we will love you forever.
