McWILLIAM, RONALD F. - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ron McWilliam, 92, of the Salisbury Road on Saturday, November 22, 2014. Born in Ford’s Mills, NB, to the late Frederick and Jennie (Cail) McWilliam, he was the loving husband for 67 years to Audrey (Bailey) McWilliam. Also left to mourn are his three children, Fred (Denise), Linda (John Rice) and Michael (Claire); his seven grandchildren, Sherisse (Gavin), Andrea (Andrew), Christopher (April), Jordan (Grace), Neil (Jenna), Leslie (Tyler) and Erin; his five great-grandchildren, Rachel, Samantha, Grace, Josiah and Emily; two brothers, Tom and Jim and sister, Edna; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Arnold. Ron had a rewarding career with Canadian National Railways starting as a telegraph operator, advancing to train dispatcher, chief dispatcher and retiring in 1978 as a transportation control officer. He was a member of St. John’s United Church and of the former Wesley Memorial United Church where he served on the Congregational Board for over 50 years. He was a long term representative of Wesley to the Moncton Area Council of Churches and a member of the Men’s group of Welsey. For over 60 years he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Acacia Lodge # 49, F. & A. M. and belonged to the Probus Club, the Antique Car Club, the Charlie’s Angels Round Dance Club and for over 25 years with the Grassettes Singers. Ron served on the Moncton Hospital Board and later for the South East Health Care Association and as their representative to the Friends of The Moncton Hospital. His great love of cars made him a sixty year associate of Hannays Ltd. Rexton. A special thank you to the staff of K.E. Spencer Memorial Home, especially to the “F” wing, for their loving care and support.
Visitation to be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Acacia Lodge # 49 F. & A.M. Memorial Service on Monday at 6:30 pm at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel. A Service Celebrating Ron’s Life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 1:30 pm with The Rev. Aaron Billard and Rev. Lloyd Bruce officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment to be held at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
