It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Thomas Crawford on Nov. 25, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Thomas and Clara (Gillis) Crawford.
Tommy had worked for Ford at the Oakville plant in Ontario for seven years. He also worked at the Stag & Doe Tavern for many years. In his earlier years, Tommy was a part of the Sea Cadets and he played baseball with the Hawks. He was a member of the New Waterford Pensioners Club, as well as the Army, Navy, Air Force Unit 217. Tommy was a person who enjoyed music and it showed as he loved playing his guitar.
Tommy is survived by his daughters, Karen (Troy) MacLeod, Tracy (Ricky) Lee, Lana (Patrick) Lamey, New Waterford, Natalie Walker, Cold Lake; sister, Jessie Fitzpatrick, Red Deer, Alta.; brother, Doug ‘Tuddy’, Ontario and his only surviving aunt, Sr. Gertrude Caroline (Gillis), Wellsey, Mass. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Katelyn, Emily, Stephen, Christopher, Abbeylyn, Claire, Taylor, great-grandchild, Aiden; brother-in-law, Wilfred Hurley Sr. and sister-in-law, Frances, as well as many very special nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Margie; brother, Hughie and brother-in-law, Paul Fitzpatrick.
Following Tommy’s wishes there will be no service. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family burial held on Friday with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
