Shirley Brothers
It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Shirley Brothers RT. Born in Sydney Mines, NS, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Catherine (MacNeil) Brothers. Shirley was a registered laboratory technologist, having worked in various hospitals in Canada and abroad. Early in her career, she accepted employment in Zurich, Switzerland with the World Health Organization. From there, she joined a team of medical technologists, opening a new hospital in Isfahan, Iran. On her return to Canada, she worked with the NS Department of Health. Left to mourn Shirley are her brother Stan (Nora), North Sydney, sisters Elizabeth Barclay and Mary Williston, Halifax, Marguerite Cullinane, Tampa, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Arnold and Fred, and Joseph in infancy. Cremation has taken place. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Benedict's Church, Halifax. She will be laid to rest beside her parents at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney, in the spring.
