Margaret Burrell
Burrell, Margaret Ellen Burrell, age 102 years and seven month, of Ponteix, Sk., passed away on December 17, 2014 at Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home, Ponteix, Sk. The Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Church with Linda Stumpf officiating. The organist was Betty Baragar accompanied by the Gospel Band Choir. The life tribute was presented by Heather Cave and Crystal Lamotte. The urn bearer was Craig Knox and Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. The Interment Service will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, Sk. at a later date. Margaret is survived by her daughters; Sylvia Knox and Elaine Young; their children Arlene (Gerry), Karen (Lorne), Craig (Lori), Laurel (Dave), Leanne (Len), Heather (Rob) and Shannon (Grant); 15 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Cora Letrace and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Bertha Dixon, her husband Gordon (1984), brothers Clifford (Ida) and Jack; sons-in-law; Eldon Knox and Dawson Young; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Jim and Alta Burrell, Peggy and Victor Robins, Bill Burrell, Jean and Albert Baragar and 3 nephews and two nieces. Margaret was born on May 6, 1912 near Miniota, Manitoba. She attended school at Buffalo Horn. On October 26, 1933 she married Gordon Burrell in Aneroid, Sk. They farmed in the Hoyle District and then moved to the Burrell farm in Buffalo Horn in 1942 where they resided until 1968 and then moved into their home in Ponteix. She played the church organ for many years in Buffalo Horn and Wallard and supported the United Church and the Red Cross as well. Her family will greatly miss this gentle quiet woman, who has forever touched our lives and will never be forgotten. The family wishes to thank the Foyer St. Joseph Nursing Home for their loving care and the compassion shown to Margaret while she made her home there.
