ALEXANDER (SANDY) WALLACE JACK

ALEXANDER (SANDY) WALLACE JACK

May 24, 1936 - December 25, 2014
It is with heavy hearts that we announce at 8:29 Christmas morning, our family lost its patriarch. After a long, brave and very courageous two year battle with cancer, Sandy passed away at home where he wanted to be with his wife and children by his side. Never once did he complain and always had a smile on his face.
Born in Dundee, Scotland on May 24, 1936 to David and Isabella Jack. He came to Canada (Ocean Falls) in 1957 and returned to Scotland in 1959 to bring his soulmate Anne to Canada in 1960 where they were married in Vancouver. Sandy worked in the pulp mill in Ocean Falls until 1972 when he moved the family to Gibsons where he worked at Howe Sound Pulp and Paper in Port Mellon until he retired.
Sandy is a very proud Masonic Lodge member.
Sandy was predeceased by his parents, David and Isabella; brothers David, Jim, Andrew and Russell; and sister Isabel. He is survived by his wife, soulmate and best friend, Anne; daughter Natalie; son Steven (Tanya); two wonderful grandchildren, Adam and Melissa, whom he adored; and many nieces and nephews in Scotland and Canada.
Anne, Natalie and Steven would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at VGH and St. Mary’s Hospital. Huge hugs and thank you to the amazing palliative home care nurses for all of your care, love and support; and to all of our special friends (you know who you are) who helped us through a very difficult time. Finally, to Dr. Belgraver – no words seem enough for everything you have done, from hugs to house calls. Thank you.
There will be a celebration of Sandy’s life on Saturday, January 10 at the Masonic Hall in Roberts Creek, BC from 1pm to 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Dad’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
We cried when you passed away. We still cry today.
Although we loved you dearly, we couldn’t make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Love you Pops. You’ll never walk alone.
Anne, Natalie and Steven
