It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Catherine 'Kit' Mary Carew, who passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loved ones by her side.
Catherine was born to James and Winnifred (Carew) Gill on May 5, 1927.
She was a life-long resident of Sydney, a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish and had been employed at the Wandlyn Motel for 10 years. She loved to play bingo and cards with her family.
Catherine is survived by her daughters, Winnifred (Clarence) Matheson, Burlington, Ont., Carol (Terry) Gale, Fernie, B.C., and Joan (Peter) Maxwell, Lethbridge, Alta; sons, Daniel (Betty), Toronto, and Harold ( Dana), St. Stephen, N.B. Also her son Edward- Neddy who has been there with her to the end never leaving her side, also stepbrothers, and sisters, Shirley, Cookie, Geraldine, Dorothy, Alfie, and Billy.
Catherine is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, too many to list, however especially her granddaughter, Janell who stayed by her side, going above and beyond to help her with anything she needed.
Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Edward, daughter, Catherine, son, Allan, sisters, Mary, Theresa and Rita and brother, Tom.
There will be no visitation or service. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to palliative care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
