MORAN, RALPH GERALD - Ralph Moran of 101 Dover St, Campbellton, formally of 199 Wellington street Miramichi, died after a brief illness on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital. Ralph was born on a Thursday, October 15th, 1925 in Chatham, N.B., he was the son of the late Leo and Rebecca "Molly" (O'Kane) Moran. He was the last child born in his family and the last family member to die. Ralph enjoyed a long career working for Imperial Oil Canada, he was a dedicated employee for over 37 years beginning his career in Campbellton in 1952, over the years his job took him to Churchill Falls NFLD ,Fredericton, and finally Newcastle where he retired in 1989. Ralph always loved sharing stories about his travels and how much he enjoyed his coworkers during his career. After Ralph retired he moved to his second home in Dalhousie Junction where he along with Leona Hicks operated Hicks canteen. In 2010 Ralph moved to the Village Seniors home on Dover street in Campbellton where he enjoyed his many friends until his passing. Ralph was the last member of his family and was predeceased by his three brother William of Chatham, Bryan of Bathurst, and Gerald of Fredericton, his three sisters Catherine Holt, Leah Moran, and Margaret Bowes all of Chatham, two brothers who died in their infancy, and 21 nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass was celebrated Saturday morning at Saint Michael's Basilica by Rev John Fraser. The pallbearers were Ralph's nieces and nephews. The remains were placed in the receiving vault at Saint Michael's cemetery to await burial in the spring when they will be laid to rest alongside his brother William and his sister Margaret.
