McCARTHY, DENNIS DANIEL "DAN" SR. - 1939 - 2015 - Dan McCarthy of Protem, Moncton, formerly of Riverview, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the age of 75. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Louis Samuel and Mary Irene McCarthy (Doyle). Dan retired from CN as the Supervisor for Facility Maintenance for the Atlantic Region in March of 1993 with over 25 years of service. He later started his own business, D.D. McCarthy Electric, as well as working as a consultant on the Canso Causeway for CBNS. In addition, he enjoyed playing recreational volleyball and puttering around the house, working on home projects and cars. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Denise (Jim Harley) McCarthy of Riverview, Colleen McCarthy of Vancouver, BC; son, Dan (Christine) McCarthy of Moncton; and grandchildren, Mikey Holland, Rebecca, Jessie and Natasha McCarthy. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by his wife, Mary June in March of 2012.
The family will be receiving friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview, NB (869-2007) on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 6 to 8pm. The interment will take place at a later date in West Brook Memorial Gardens, West Brook, NS. Donations can be made in Dan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of NB.
