1968-2015. A special and gentle soul, who will be remembered and missed by those whose lives she touched, passed away peacefully at Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday January 6th, 2015. Karen Rita Rice of Red Head Cove was in her 46th year. Predeceased by her brother Gary Rice; grandparents Thomas & Charlotte Rice; grandfather William Hannan; aunts Pauline Hartson & Mary McCarthy and cousins Thomas McCarthy and Neil Avery. Leaving to mourn are her beloved parents Bren and Margaret Rice; brother Kirk (Juanita); partner Boyd Squires, son Justin and his parents Max and Elsie Squires; nephews Jacob, Terrance (Brenda) and Chad Rice (Nicole and Gary); niece Erica Emberley (Jamie & Kaden); sister in law Marjorie Rice and all of her extended family and friends. Special thank you to all the staff at Carbonear General Hospital and Wilkinson Memorial Hospital of Old Perlican for their care and compassion during her time spent there. Visitation will take place Wednesday from 2:00PM - 9:00PM to the public. On Thursday from 10:00AM - 9:00PM at Green's Funeral Home in Winterton. Service will be held at Green's Funeral Home on Friday January 9th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Karen's name to the Assumption Parish in Bay de Verde, Bethel's United Church in Sibley's Cove or a charity of one's choice.
