Raymond Frederick Arnal age 76 years of Swift Current, Saskatchewan and formerly of Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan died on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Prairie Pioneers Lodge in Swift Current following a brief illness.
Ray was born at Eastend, Saskatchewan on August 16, 1938. He received his education at Ravenscrag. He began farming and ranching with his brother Cliff in 1959 and then they joined with their brother Clarence in 1963 to form their company, Arnal Brothers. Ray sold his shares in Arnal Brothers in 1967 and moved to Alberta where he worked in the oil industry and then worked as a fisherman in British Columbia for a period of time. He returned to work on the farm at Ravenscrag in the 1970’s then farmed in British Columbia for a brief time before returning to Ravenscrag again to farm before settling in Swift Current 21 years ago. While in Swift Current he enjoyed volunteer work and helped out with the Salvation Army. Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was predeceased by his father Clement on May 15, 1972, his mother Olive on September 20, 1993, his wife Ada, brother-in-law Bob Lemire, niece Cathy Hyam, nephew Denis Lemire and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He is survived by his daughter Andrea Arnal of Calgary, Alberta, two brothers Clarence and Cliff (Brenda), his sister Marguerite Lemire and by Margaret Arnal; who was his sister-in-law for many years as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held at Eastend Memorial Hall on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Captain Michael Ramsey officiating. Interment took place at Pointview Cemetery at Ravenscrag. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon (www.Binkleys.com) was in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers were Chris Arnal, Tom Arnal, Bob Lemire Jr., Bernie Lemire, Mark Lemire and Brett Lemire.
