Donald Routledge
ROUTLEDGE, REV. DONALD - 1945 - 2015 - Rev. Donald Routledge passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 after a lengthy illness. Donald was born in Halifax, NS; he was the son of the late David and Eugenie (Jean neé Dunbrack) Routledge. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Charlene (neé Jeans); daughters, Stephanie Kornechuk (Thomas) of Auburn, WA, Jennifer Routledge (Ritchie) of Riverview, NB, Seana Routledge (Craig) of Shearwater, NS; brothers, David of Halifax, Douglas (Kathleen) of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; granddaughters, Samantha (Tristan), Abigail, Hannah, Myla, cherished nephews Pascal (Caryann) and Daniel, and his extended family. Donald received the Birks Medal in 1963 for leadership in student affairs, QEHS; the I.H. Weldon Medal in 1970 for the most meritorious contribution to the annual meeting of the Technical section of the Canadian Pulp and Paper Association. He received a BSc from Dalhousie University in 1967 and a Master of Theology from the Atlantic School of Theology in 1975. He was made a deacon in the Anglican Church in 1975 and became a priest in 1976. He served the Anglican Diocese of Fredericton in the parishes of Kent, Hampton, Perth-Andover and St. James, Moncton, and held various offices on the Deanery and Diocesan levels, his favorite being the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer which he began in the Dioceses. An avid lifetime sports participant, he played basketball, football, enjoyed curling, golfing and became a long distance runner, enjoying long walks later in life. He is dearly missed by his family and friends.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd. Riverview (869-2007) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00pm. An evening visitation from 7:00 to 9:00pm will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 51 Church St., Moncton. A service celebrating Donald’s life will take place on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. George’s Anglican Church with Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating.
