It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheldon Hiscock on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at the Glace Bay Hospital, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John and Lillian (Curtis) Hiscock.
Sheldon was employed at the Fortress of Louisbourg for many years as a carpenter and later was employed with the Department of Transportation, Sydney Airport. He will be remembered as a very easy going, quiet and private man who loved carpentry; a trade in which he used to help others.
Sheldon is survived by his wife, Esther (MacNeil) Hiscock; one son, Jason, Glace Bay; two sisters, Diane (Jimmy) Wilson, Bess McDonald, Ontario; one brother, John (May) Hiscock, Reserve Mines, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Sheldon was predeceased by two brothers, Graham, Clayton and one sister, Violet Kim.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service officiated by Lay Minister, Martha MacDonald will be held in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
