Peacefully at the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, with his loving family by his side of Stephen James Murphy of Alberton, age 88 years. Born at Alberton, on October 24, 1926, he was the last surviving family member of the late Stephen F. and Mary B. (nee Kinch) Murphy. Beloved husband of the late Edith Albina (nee MacArthur) who predeceased him in May 1, 2013. Lovingly remembered by his children, Chris (Sandy) of Summerside; Marlene (Gordon Sinclair) of Kensington; Eileen (Andre) Rioux of Summerside; Greg (Sharren) of Fort Augustus; Sandra (Michael)Arsenault of DeBlois. Cherished grandfather to Shawn (Rose Anne) Murphy, Chad (Jennifer) Murphy, Jason Ramsay, Krista (Gary) Bryson, Megan (Ben Keen), Lauren Murphy, Lindsay Arsenault, Gina Arsenault, Robbie Arsenault. Step-grandfather to Crystal and Hannah Arsenault, Taylor and Sarah Quinn, and Bailee Noonan. Great-grandfather to Keauna and Reese Ramsay, Gavin Murphy, Marshall and Wilson Keen. Also by his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Leona Murphy of Alberton; Dorothy Murphy of Peterbrough, Ont.; Jean (Marvin) Green of Ottawa, Ont. He was predeceased by a grandson Tanner Arsenault as well as siblings, Ralph, Harvey, Shirley, Erskine, twin brother Bernie, Pauline, Eileen, Olive, Mary and Harriet. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Friday 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday 10 to 10:30 a.m. Funeral on Saturday morning from the Sacred Heart Church, Alberton, for funeral mass at 11 a.m. Rev. Andrew MacDonald celebrant. Interment later in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorials to the Maplewood Manor, Alberton, would be gratefully appreciated.
