BAKER, Nicholas John – Deer Lake, NL, August 6, 1909 - January 12, 2009. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nicholas John Baker announce his passing on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Escasoni Complex in St. John’s, at the age of 99 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children Nellie (Robert) George, Everett (Janet) Baker, Eric (Augusta) Baker, Valerie (David) Thorne, John (Glenda) Baker, Robert (Gertrude) Baker, Irene (Ivan) Butler, Barry (Mary) Baker, adopted daughter Hannah (Daryl) Anstey; 31 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, as well as brother Edmund Baker; sisters Ann White, Frances Cull, Julia Paul, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Edith Mae; parents Moses and Lucendia Baker, daughter Emma George, granddaughters Sharon George, Donna Bell Baker, Beulah Thorne and great-granddaughters Sabrina Baker, Alexandria Baker. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Wednesday and Thursday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church with Pastor Cyril Farewell and Pastor David Gifford officiating.
