Thelma Kathleen Taylor, age 90, of Windsor, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2015, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on December 18, 1924, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Amy) Shay, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Thelma had worked at Stedman’s Store and Fashion Fabrics, Windsor, and lastly, the housekeeping staff at Hants Community Hospital. Thelma is survived by her sons, Fred (Paulette Church), Mill Section; Robert (Vanessa), McKay Section; son-in-law, Mervyn Card, Centre Burlington; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Odessa Shay, Windsor; Dot Shay, Garlands Crossing. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Grant (2013); daughter, Kathleen “Kay” Card; son, Doug “Hooks”; brothers, Cliff, Bert, LeRoy, Aub, and Fred Shay; sister, Dorothy Geizer. The family wish to thank the Doctors and staff at the Hants Community Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Cathryn Smith. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, in Lindsay’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. Burial will be held at a later date.
