Gwen passed away at the age of 80 on January 14, 2015 in Carson City, Nevada, USA. Pre-deceased by her parents Joseph & Mary Murphy (Joe operated the barbershop in the old Hotel Newfoundland) and her brother, Dr. Brian Murphy. Left to celebrate her life are her husband Hal Richardson, sisters Sheila (John) Kenny (St. John's), Doreen (Tom) Mortati and Joan Guzzardo in Florida, 3 children in Nevada - Gary (Mary) Richardson, Kim (Joe) Malfa, & Randy Richardson, and Lynne (Ray) Mossman in Florida, nieces St. John's Calla Kenny & Cheryl Ann Beasley, nieces and nephews in Michigan Stephanie Clark, Stacey Smith, Rob & Ken Harrington, lots of cousins with special mention, Dr. Paul Gardiner (St. John's) and brother Gordon Bellows and more than 20 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born and raised on Quidi Vidi Rd. in St. John's and attended St. Joseph's school. She met her "Yankie" husband Hal while working as a secretary at Pepperrell Air Force Base then moved to California, USA in 1954. Gwen saw the world traveling with Hal and friends. She loved to camp, water ski and snow ski. She also spent many years volunteering for the Civil Air Patrol and American Cancer Society. Gwen was an amazing woman with an unwavering love for her family and friends. She will stay in our hearts forever.
