Cora MacKinnon Piccione, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, & friend passed away at age 88 Jan.18, 2015 in Dallas, TX.
Cora was born April 30, 1926 in Gabarus, Cape Breton, N.S. to Alexander & Sarah Matheson MacKinnon. Cora graduated from Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse in 1948. She worked in Ontario and later moved to New York and worked at North Shore Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. She married Nicholas E. Piccione in 1957 & they were married for 55 years. They had one daughter, Mora Piccione in 1958. Cora was an active volunteer for The Parkinson Foundation & the Presbyterian Church in Smithtown, N.Y. Cora & Nick retired in 1978 & moved to St. Petersburg, FL. where she continued volunteering at Bayfront Hospital & the local church. Cora had a lovely circle of friends, & enjoyed entertaining, music and dancing. Cora & Nick moved to Dallas, TX. in 2007 under the loving care of Nick's daughter, Josephine Piccione Smilie 'Jo' & family.
Cora was predeceased by her parents; by husband, Nick Piccione; brother, Stewart MacKinnon; sisters, Edith MacIntyre and Annie Florie MacKinnon; brothers-in-law, Donald MacIntyre, Anthony Piccione; stepson, Anthony Watson Piccione and step-grandson, Craig Chandler Smilie.
Survivors: daughter, Mora Piccione; granddaughter, Nicole Levine; stepdaughter, Jo Piccione Smilie and family; brother, Aubrey & sister-in-law, Jean & family; sister-in-law, Doris MacKinnon and family; nieces, Donna Lahey & family, & Flora Couture & family.
Interment will be at Calvary Hill Mausoleum in Dallas, TX., where the family will have a private service.
