Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on January 26, 2015, Elsie Antle (Parsons) of St. John's, age 88, formerly of Carmanville. Predeceased by parents Alphonso and Gladys Parsons, brothers Maxwell and Lewis and sisters Carrie, Claire and Elizabeth. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Gail (Harry Edwards), John (Laura), Pauline (Harvey Branton), Ed (Valerie) and Brenda. Nine grandchildren: Jeff (Gail) Edwards, Carol Edwards, Blair Antle, Tara Antle (Roger Ruby and his sons Cody and Eric), Donald Jarvis, Christopher (Pamela) Jarvis, Chad (Nicole) Jarvis, Melissa (Matt) Pope and Emily Antle. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Abbey (Daniel) Den Haan, Scarlett Edwards, Riley and Ava Jarvis-Young, Gabrielle, Nathan, Carter, Tyson, Gillian, Donnie and Amelia Jarvis, Jack and Luke Jarvis and Gabriel Pope. Two sisters: Georgina Pennell and Mary Weatherby. A large circle of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends, including Joanne Antle, Don Jarvis, Shannon Young, Paula Terry, Peggy Webster and Bonnie (Tom) Osmond as well as members of the LeGrow and Brace families. Elsie was a long-time member of Cochrane Street United Church and the L.O.B.A. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Ruby Manor where she resided for the past nine months as well as the wonderful nurses and doctors of St. Clare's ICU. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John's on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 27 and 28, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to take place from Cochrane Street United Church at 11 am on Thursday, January 29, 2015. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Down's Syndrome Society of NL.
