We are saddened to announce the death of Joey Ellsworth of 669 St. Joseph Street, New Waterford. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Leo and Annie (Campbell) Ellsworth.
Following the death of his father, Joey lived with and took care of his mother until she passed away. Joey also undertook various work endeavors but seemed happiest as a milkman’s assistant. During that time, he began a regime of running daily which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was an avid sports fan. He loved going to Tim’s where he joined many friends for coffee, neighborly chats and exchanging views on world events. Joey was always polite and friendly to everyone. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Parish, now St. Leonard’s. Joey was a friend of Bill’s.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Helen (Tish) Austin-Smith (Peter), and his best friend Donna. He enjoyed visits and phone calls from his nieces and nephews, particularly his niece, Barbie, in Florida. Joey was also very close to his cousin Tom White and his wife Jeanette, and to many other friends especially Danny McEachern, and Johnny Gaetan.
He was predeceased by his brother, Garfield; a sister Anne Petrash; and an infant sister, Frances.
Cremation has taken place. A Chapel service and interment will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford, 862-7500.
