TAYES, AUSTIN WILLIS
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Austin Willis Tayes announce his passing on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Upham, NB on October 17, 1928, he is the son of the late William and Althea (Sherwood) Tayes and loving husband of 57 years to Theresa (Hourihan) Tayes. Austin was a hardworking man his entire life, always doing his very best to provide and care for his family. He worked for many years for the Dolan family as the Manager of Crystal Ice/Crystal Oil/Crystal Plastic and caregiver to the Clydesdale draught horses that he so loved. Austin enjoyed tending to his garden and was especially proud of his potatoes. He was a kind and loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.
Along with his beloved wife Theresa, he is survived by his sons Danny (Sharon), Earl (Susan), Carl (Tina) and Eric Tayes; only daughter Eileen Tayes; brothers Wallace and Donnie (Shirley) Tayes; sisters Leona McEwen, Winnifred (Guy) Colpitts, Marcella Gillcrest and Norma (Willard) Mallory; grandchildren Takeya, Brenton, Bryce, Amanda, Christopher and Melissa; great-grandchild Kyron and several extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Austin was predeceased by his brothers Wesley and Alfred and sisters Cora, Ruby and Doris and granddaughter Kanika Tayes.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Austin’s memory can be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
